A new Year!

My best belated wishes for the New Year!

Sorry I haven't been very active on this blog (neither on the other one, the personal one, to be honest). I have been having so many mix feelings about adoption in the past months, with this wait still growing and my readings of adoptees blogs, ethical websites, first parents search forums...

Don't get me wrong I still consider adoption the best thing that happened to our family since it made M our daughter but it's just that now I fully realize it wasn't a win-win for everybody and that someone (and most definitely more than one person) lost a lot in it too.
I am ashamed to say I was pretty ignorant...

I don't really know where I am going with this blog but for now I guess I'll keep it online, at least to have a quick way to re-read amazing posts that give me hope and remind me that so much good comes from adoption too.

Love,
Juliette

Juliette, hi, thanks for your comment the other day.

What you are going through at the moment is very hard. The realization that adoption isn't the rosy experience the mainstream appears to think it is is tough to accept. But once accepted, this knowledge will help you be a better parent, as well as a voice that educates and advocates for change. Since we a-parents hold the lion's share of power in adoption, using our voices is incredibly important.

I have had the same feelings too. With the wait growing and our children getting older I just don't know. For me with adoption is that I love my children so incredibly much and I do think they have a better life than living in a orphanage. Especially my son who had RAD. Love brought us there and will help us as they grow up. It helps me to focus on that, and to be accepting of all of their feelings on life and of their adoption.
